For those interested in the Indy5000, the race is to be held on the weekend following the conference and the Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Resort have offered to extend accommodation at conference prices for any delegate wishing to stay on for the race.

Standards Australia

Greg Langtry, Standards Australia is the Project Manager for the Iron and Steel committees (MT-100) and communicates regularly with the AFI regarding changes to standards and seeking involvement from industry professionals. The AFI National Committee strongly encourages industry members to become involved in the review panels, providing public comment and new projects undertaken by Standards Australia.

The metal casting industry helped build Australia and the building continues. Few other industries are as directly related to the growth and prosperity of our nation as the foundry industry.

Metal castings are used in 90% of all manufactured goods and capital equipment which supports the employment of thousands of Australian families.

You will find over half a million tonnes of Australian metal castings are shipped to foreign markets each year with values at over one billion dollars.


	Environmentally responsible

	Once regarded as an aging smokestack of an industry the modern Australian foundry has embraced strict environment regulations as well as new production technologies that increase productivity and profitability for its customers and the country.


	The industry also partners with various government agencies to study ways to improve foundry processes, produce cleaner air and water and reduce military hardware costs and reduce energy consumption.




	The metal casting industry will prosper in the 21st century as well because of its ability to adapt to the needs and demands of the times.
